A high-level discussion on the future of ASEAN’s digital economy gathered key leaders, government representatives, and industry innovators to explore collaboration, innovation, and responsible growth across the region.
The event follows the MoU signed between PIKOM and NASSCOM in New Delhi earlier in August, and saw the participation of prominent figures such as His Excellency Mr. BN Reddy, High Commissioner of India to Malaysia; YB Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital Malaysia; Mr. Ong Chin Seong, Chairman of PIKOM; Datuk Fadzli Abdul Wahit, SVP and Head of Digital Transformation at MDEC; and Ms. Millie Yong, Organising Chair of PIKOM Lead 2024.
Amid discussions on transformative technologies and cross-border opportunities, Dato Seri Ivan Teh offered valuable insights on private sector readiness, ethical AI development, and the importance of strong public-private collaboration in accelerating digital adoption.
“Southeast Asia is on the cusp of a digital breakthrough. To stay ahead, we must prioritise innovation, ethical frameworks, and collaborative ecosystems that fuel sustainable growth,” said Dato Seri Ivan.
As ASEAN’s digital economy is projected to reach USD 2 trillion by 2030, and with over 460 million digital consumers already online, the region stands as one of the world’s most promising tech frontiers. With Malaysia’s ASEAN chairmanship in 2025 and the upcoming launch of the National AI Office (NAIO) and ASEAN AI Safety Network, the conversation reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to shaping an inclusive and forward-thinking digital future.
Dato Seri Ivan Teh’s presence at the event reflects his ongoing role in championing innovation and shaping the digital agenda, both locally and across the region.
